Here’s a little teaser of what to expect in the Sempiternal pictures. This is the Watch Tower for Inferno that I created yesterday and have decided will not feature in the final piece because it doesn’t have as much impact as I desire. The concept for this tower is it has been sculpted out of the hard rock in Hell and looks out over the Underworld. I have now created a new tower that I feel has a stronger image but your’ll just have to wait till the exhibition to get to see it.

I have also added the two original pictures I started with to create the Watch Tower taken at Plymouth Hoe. The end image is a rough mock up that I have not spent extra time tidying up and cleaning as this would take time out of creating the next batch of images.

I am currently working on my last ever piece of University coursework which will be a photographic piece. Different to my usual choice of media film, but I feel to expression the subject matter of my project photography will be the strongest means to present this. To create the two final piece I will use a great deal of photographs to manipulate into the final two images. This should be an exciting project and really test my knowledge and creativity.

Here’s a working cover image for the project. Individually the images will be called ‘Elysium’ and the other ‘Inferno’, but together, they will be called ‘Sempiternal’.

For the “5 Clip Shredders” on SouthWestBMX I wanted to create a more interesting and dynamic intro for the piece that will grasp more people attention. Since the beginning of the “5 clip Shredders” series I wanted to create an old TV that the introduction can be played on and now I have created it! Atrocity is the story about two friends having a cup of tea together after they hadn’t seen each other since just after the fateful night when Sam’s girlfriend was abducted.

This video explores through the audio and visuals the research I did for my third year Media Arts dissertation at Plymouth University. For my dissertation I researched thriller films such as Dracula (1930), Psycho (1960) and Sinister (2012) and how they stimulated the emotion of fear to an audience. I also looked at what sounds cause an unpleasant feeling in an audience thanks to Dr Sukhbinder Kumar’s research at Newcastle University.

5 Clip Shredders #1 from Henry Cakebread on Vimeo.

This is a new series for SouthWestBMX where when we are riding we will film 5 clips of anyone at the park or spot we’re riding. This will give the opportunity for anyone riding with us to be featured on SouthWestBMX so if you ever see us riding and we’ve got a camera on us, just pop over, say “hi” and ask if you can have a clip.

In this episode I was riding with Hywel Fanner and Ritchie Hunt at Prime skatepark and we wanted to test out the Glidecam so filmed a couple clips at Prime Skatepark.
